Paris is home to hundreds of fashion boutiques and head offices of popular world-renowned designers, but when it comes to shopping and finding great clothes as well as great deals, don’t limit yourself to one district. There are plenty of other districts and establishments in the French capital where you can find fashionable creations for cheap or avail of discounts and deals for your wardrobe.

Paris has 20 inner districts and each one may be described by the establishments and landmarks found in it. The liveliest districts, according to many tourists, are: the 1st arrondissement, which is home to Palais Royal, the 3rd, which houses the fashionable Marais, the 6th, where Saint Germain des Pres is found, the 7th, home to Tour Eiffel, the 8th, near Avenue Montaigne and Champs-Elysees, and the 16th district which is where Foch avenue, one of Paris’ most expensive districts, is found. If you have a Paris Apartment Rentals in any of these districts, you’re in luck since the biggest shopping destinations should be a few minutes’ walk, away.

If your fashion tastes are sophisticated and more high end, the best shopping destinations for you would include Avenue Montaigne and shops along Champs-Elysees (8th). Aside from fashion shops, fashionable Paris apartments to rent are also found here.

If you enjoy handmade souvenirs and other creations made by French artists and artisans, walk down the Marais (3rd) and you’ll find a lot of handmade items priced cheaply. You could even purchase a caricature or a painting of yourself from independent artists who live here.

If you are a self-confessed bookworm with a liking for vintage books and interesting apparel, try the Saint Germain district (6th) or the flea markets in Porte de Clingancourt (18th).

Finally, if you want to see French’s malls, try Galleries Lafayette in the 9th district or Les Halles Shopping Centers in the heart of Paris.

For many people bargain shopping is one of the most pleasurable shopping experiences. You will find many such opportunities in your own neighborhood right outside your Paris rental apartment door. But exploring Paris is half the fun. Paris is home to many fashion designers and high-end luxury shops but the shopping environment here is truly diverse. While the inner districts of Paris are home to more expensive and fashionable items, the outer districts of Paris is where you can find antique and vintage items. Even in this luxurious capital, it is still possible for you to go bargain shopping in Paris.

If you are staying at a Paris apartment located within or near Saint Germain des Pres, Marais, or in St. Ouen, chances are, you will find bargains and antiques here everyday. These districts are known for their flea markets and cheap shops but the merchandise sold here at bargain prices are actually, of very good quality.

Staying at the right district means getting easy access to affordable diners and restaurants and more affordable boutiques and shops. If you want to wake up to merchants hawking their affordable wares, try staying in Paris apartment rentals located in the 3rd, 6th, and 18th districts.

Shopping may be considered a national pastime in Paris. After all, the local government is responsible for scheduling when the next big nationwide sale– or soldes– is held. The soldes happens only twice a year: in winter and in summer, and on these dates, high-end luxury items which may cost hundreds, and even thousands of Euros, are marked down and sold at extremely affordable prices. In other words, you could find a limited edition Chanel or Louis Vuitton bag at bargain price, during the Soldes!

Don’t let the glitz and glamour of Paris fool you: it may seem like Europe’s most expensive capital, but shopping here can be affordable and memorable.
